Medal Tally (Day 2, July 29): China, USA and Italy on Top, Hosts Still Gold-less

London 2012: USA on Second Spot with Dana Vollmer and Kimberly Rhode's Gold on Day 2

London (Monday, July 30) - China maintained their top position on medals table after day 2 of the London 2012 Olympic Games followed by USA and Italy.

China is on top with total 12 medals, Gold 6     Silver 4    Bronze 2. China's six Gold medals came in Diving, Shooting and Swimming, two in each. China's Zi He, Minxia Wu won Gold in Diving, Wenjun Guo, Siling Yi won Gold in Shooting and Yang Sun, Shiwen Ye won Gold medals in Swimming.

won Gold with 219 points while Elisa Di Francisca won Gold in Fencing, Women's Foil Individual.

USA is on second spot with total 11 medals, Gold 3     Silver 5    Bronze 3. America's two Gold medals came in Swimming and one came in Shooting. America's Ryan Lochte and Dana Vollmer won Gold in Swimming, while Kimberly Rhode won Gold in Shooting.

Italy is currenly spotted on number three in terms of medals won with their 7 medals, Gold 2     Silver 3    Bronze 2. Italy's two Gold medals came in Archery and Fencing, one each in both events. Italy's Archery Team - Michele Frangilli, Marco Galiazzo, Mauro Nespoli -

The hosts, Great Britain, are still in the hunt of their first Gold; but they have won one Silver and One Bronze already.

Medal Tally: Ryan Lochte win first Gold for USA, but China on top at Day 1

London (Sunday, Jul 29) - Yesterday (Saturday, July 28), the first official day of London 2012 Olympics Games) was a full day of excitement and action. Top class athletes from all over the world fought their hearts out to win the honor for their respective countries.

Medal Tally: Ryan Lochte win first Gold for USA, but China on top at Day 1

 Day 1 of the London Olympics clearly belongs to China, leading the medal tally with six medals, four gold and two bronze, followed by Italy with two gold, two silver and one bronze. Team USA has collected one gold, two silver and two bronze and positioned thrid on the medal tally.

China started and finished the day on top of the medal table after taking the first gold of the London 2012 Olympics.

Ye Siling took the honour of being the Games' first gold medallist with a nerveless display in the final of the women's 10 metre air rifle.

The 2008 host nation went on to claim three further golds, with 16-year-old swimmer Ye Shiwen taking top billing following a world record in the women's 400m Individual Medley.

China's domination in Swimming earned 2 Gold and a Bronze medal, while one Gold each in Shooting and weight lifting with one more Bronze in Shooting.

The only Gold for USA came in Men's 400m Individual Medley event, when Ryan Lochte's performance and speed beat  his country-man and rival Michael Phelps.

Phelps finished fourth, failing to win a medal in an event for the first time since the 2000 Sydney games. It breaks a streak of 16 medals in 16 events, 14 gold and two bronze. Phelps will have a chance to redeem himself when the two men face off again in the 200m Individual Medley.

The US Men's Archery team came incredibly close to winning Team USA's second gold, losing to Italy in the Gold Medal match by a single point. Jacob Wukie, Brady Ellison and Jake Kaminski had to settle for the Silver Medal.
