Katie Long concedes there will be 14 disappointed hockey players come the London 2012 Olympics - but after sampling similar woe last year she is vowing not to be one of them.
Long enjoyed a dream summer in 2010 winning Champions Trophy bronze in July and bronze again at the World Cup in September both as part of an 18-strong England squad.
However with the team trimmed by two for the Commonwealth Games in October the 22-year-old suffered the heartache of being selected only as a reserve as England went on to claim another bronze.
Long knows only 16 again will be selected when England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland come together as Great Britain for the London 2012 Olympics in less than 500 days time.
